I can't believe that my baby girls is almost two years old. Penny, is obsessed with her boots. Which she has a ton of I can't resist them! I feel like she is communicating so much better which makes both of us much happier. My favorite thing to hear her say is "Nasty" I know this is a weird word but she says it all the time when she thinks something is gross and it makes me laugh every time! She has such a fun personality and is a big tease. She is constantly teasing Lydia which I think is funny since Lydia is the older one it seems like it should be the other way around.

These girls are becoming the best playmates. Penny was sad and she wanted to lay and watch a movie with Lydia. She didn't want anything to do with me! It kinda made me sad but I am so glad that she loves her sister so much.

While Penny was napping Lydia ask me if she could make her own PBJ sandwich. I told her she could but she need to be sure to clean up when she was done. I went down stairs to find her all set up at the table with her sandwich. ( Yes, we know its January and she has dressed herself for July) She did a great job and she cleaned up when she was done. I think I will put her in charge of lunch everyday! I am starting to wonder if they need me around with Lydia making lunch and doing hair.

Lydia started ballet class this month. She was so excited. I didn't get very many pictures because I was feeling horible which I later found out I had a kidney stone. (first one ever and hopefully the last) She is taking the class with her friend Jada from school. I already had to buy new leotards because she wore them out in the first week practicing at home. She loves getting all dressed up and putting on shows for Taylor and I.

I caught Taylor in Penny's room rocking her to sleep and I had to get my camera. My favorite is the one where Taylor is mad and telling me to stop taking pictures and get out because he was afraid I would wake her up! I told him he will be glad later that I took these. He eventually retreated to our room on our bed and I still took a picture! I love watching Taylor with our girls he is such a sweet and gentle dad.

Please can anyone explain to me why he wouldn't want anymore kids?

On Tuesday I was making great efforts to catch up and get the house back together from the long holiday break. So I neglected Penny's hair all day. So Lydia decided to take it into her own hands. She did Penny's hair all by herself and she also added the accessory of sunglasses. It was the best part of my whole week. These two girls are starting to be the cutest playmates.

I promise this is the last Christmas post. Christmas morning was so much fun this year. Lydia loved all of her things from Santa but she liked the gum and crafts the best. Penny didn't care what she got she just wanted everyone around her to know it was hers. She put all of her things inside a box and carried them around telling everyone "mine". It was fun having church on Christmas day this year it made the day seem less commercialized. After opening presents, church and lunch we left to come home to have Christmas with Taylor's family. I didn't get any pictures of that (I forgot my camera) so you won't have to suffer though anymore Christmas pictures.

Christmas Eve the kids got to open presents from my parents. They all loved there new pajamas. Kalli gave a presentation on the Savior followed by the kids performing musical numbers. Dad made his famous prime rib it was so yummy. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for having this crazy group it was so much fun.

We spent Christmas in Beaver this year. It was cold but Christmas eve day we took a walk to the park to let the kids get their energy out (and keep them out of the presents). It is so fun to have all the cousins together and feel the kids' anticipation as they wait for Christmas morning. I remember as a child loving Christmas eve and I still think it is my favorite day even over Christmas day itself. I love the food, family and thoughts of the Savior that make Christmas eve so special.

The week before Christmas the girls and I made a trip to Page Arizona with Taylor's family. We did some sight seeing along the way. It was fun for the girls to see the dam and to earn their junior ranger badge. It was such a fun day to spend time with everyone. I am never in any pictures so I made everyone take a reflection picture in front of the Glen Canyon Recreation Building we are a pretty crazy group.

The main reason for our long six hour drive was to take the kids to visit the hogans for Christmas. Taylor's cousin lives in Page and arranged for us to take Christmas out to some kids who lived in these hogans. It made all of us feel so grateful for all that we have.

Taylor went out of town the week before Christmas leaving us to the gingerbread house making. Normally Taylor helps the girls build a beautiful gingerbread house but since he was gone I helped. I put on all the frosting and the girls decorated the house. It was going pretty good for awhile until the house fell over the first time. I tried multiple times to recover it but I guess we just needed the engineer for this project. Both girls ate way to much candy and then we ended up throwing it away after stuffing it with paper towel didn't help it stand. Lydia was belly laughing by the end. She thought it was pretty funny watching me try again and again to make it stand up.

For the past three years I have been begging Taylor to build me a wooden Christmas tree. I was first introduced to one four years ago by my friend Jessica( and I fell in love with the idea). I loved the simple modern look and the easy storage. Well here it is Taylor made the pattern and plans all on his own! It was fun listening to different peoples reaction to the new tree this year. They either didn't like it at all or liked it a lot. The kids were the funniest. One of Lydia's friends Mason went into our house when we got back from school and had to run back out to tell me there was something weird in my house lol. It was the Christmas tree of course and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't green.

The picture of Lydia decorating the tree was taken on the night of the first presidencies Christmas devotional it was so much fun eating popcorn and watching it with the girls. We were going to put Penny to bed but she climb up on the couch and sat so quiet the entire time so she got to stay up too.

Lydia has a play date each week with these little cuties. We had it at our house last week. It has been fun getting to know each of them they all have such fun personalities. Lydia's favorite part is getting to make the crafts with her friends. She loves helping plan what we will do when its our turn to have play date at our house.

I am grateful that we live so close to the temple. It is such a fun tradition to take the kids to see the nativity during the Christmas season. I love watching them look up at the temple and admire its beauty. Lydia wanted to go inside and it was a great chance to talk to her about someday going there to be married. Afterwards we went for McDonald's ice creams ( I think we will have to make this a tradition too). We all had a great time and it was great pondering the Saviors birth in such a beautiful place.

I put the girls to work last week cleaning up the leaves. They didn't get much done but they had a bunch of fun. It is crazy how fast fall comes and goes here. Lydia loved this big leaf. I had to laugh when I saw this picture, it was as big as her head.

I bought each of the girls their own headphones the other day for car rides. When we got home Lydia had to go to school but Penny spent at least 45 minutes in this chair listening to music with hers. I spent 15 minutes just trying to get her to look at me but she was way too busy. Penny has really taken to music lately. If she is crying in the car one of the only ways I can get her to be happy is to sing. She has also started trying to sing her own songs. It is one of my favorite things she does.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we stayed in town with the Ricks family. It was so fun to see everyone ... all 70 of them. I didn't get any pictures of the feast, I decided to just relax and enjoy the day instead of trying so hard to capture it. But I did get these pictures of my girls in the fall leaves and they made me think about Thanksgiving. I have been so slow getting around to posting but I didn't want to skip Thanksgiving before getting to our Christmas pictures and activities. I have so much to be thankful for.

I promise this is my last Halloween post. Lydia wanting to be Abby Caddaby this year so we created this little outfit. Most people didn't get it but she was thrilled so it didn't matter. Of course Penny was little red riding hood. They were both so excited to trick or treat. But after three houses Lydia said she didn't feel good and ended up having the flu. So they kind of missed out this year. Good thing we had so many fun parties leading up to it.

My mom did a dinner with a witch this Halloween. It was so much fun and the kids had a blast. Lydia, said she knew it was grandma because of her eyebrows lol. But honestly it took Lydia about 20 minutes to realize that it was her. Penny was terrified of course. The food was delicious and watching the kids made it worth the drive. A few weeks ago our family went on a little vacation. I found some coupons on groupon for a SLC connect pass. With the pass we went to Thanksgiving Point, Tracy Aviary, Childrens Discovery Museum, Hansen Planetarium, and the Zoo. Highlights of the trip for me were

- Lydia acting out Little Red Riding hood and getting terrified by Autumn.

- Watching my dad explore the museums lol.

- The Tracy Aviary (my favorite part of the trip)

- Watching Penny try to do everything like the big kids.

- Penny hugging everyone at the zoo.

- Autumns losing her arm in the picture above.

- And just getting away.

Penny has the hardest time waking up. I think she gets it from me. So lately we have just hung out in her room for a bit until she is a little less grumpy. Lydia is growing up so fast. She amazes me each day with the new stuff she has learned. She is now able to go all the way across the monkey bars. Just this week she tried out a new tactic on me to get me to let her do something. I had told her she couldn't go outside until I was able to come. She responded if you don't let me go outside I won't let you go shopping. I don't think I like this grown up side of Lydia as much but hopefully it's just a stage:)

I didn't know that Nilla Wafers would be such a hit today. I have been really struggling with Penny this week. She has been on a power struggle kick. But she was so good today and it wasn't because she was watching TV. Although I think today was the first time she has showed interest in TV. She watched it for about 5 minutes while she ate her snack with Lydia.

Yes, I know that school started a month ago but I am just getting around to posting these. My camera skills failed me on the first day of school and all of my pictures turned out really bad. So I staged some of Lydia. She makes a pretty awesome teacher, she told me all about the world while I was taking these. It's her last year of preschool before she takes the big plunge.

She fell down last week riding her bike and scraped up her face. When I went to pick her up from school she said that some boys in her class had called her some names( I think because of her face) and she said it hurt her heart. It really bothered her all week. But we practiced what to do the next time she went to school if the boys were mean. But when I picked her up she told me that she decided to ask them if they wanted to be her friend now and they said sure. I was proud of her for working it out and making the most of it.

At the start of the summer neither of the girls were too excited about the water. But I am happy to report that Lydia can now swim (well at least she thinks she can we have some work to do, but she is much better.) and Penny is a little fish now too. So hopefully we will be spending some more time at the pool until things cool off.

I think I am going to melt every time I watch this. It was a process arranging to get this bus. I think the guys that rent these were so sick of me calling. But it was worth the wait. My Dad got a new Harley and I took some pictures of my parents on it at the El Bambi, an old cafe' where I grew up. I love that my parents want to do things together and are not afraid of anything. They wake up everyday and run together and go to the gym. ( No more excuses for the rest of us including me.) Taylor and I have named them the best empty nester's ever. Not very many grandparents of seven little spanks ride a Harley. LOL Sorry it took so long mom I hope you like them.

Fireworks

We were having a quiet 24th of July enjoying our sparklers when the neighbors next to my parents started the field on fire. I ran down to get picture and all the men in the neighborhood ran to get water and shovels. (My family was embarrassed when I took of running around with my camera ha ha). The fire got put out right before the fire truck got there. I thought this picture of the cowboy fighting the fire was hilarious. The rest of the night the kids ran around pretending to be firemen and Lydia said it was her favorite part of the whole day.

Camping Out

Lydia and Maddox tried to camp out in Beaver when we visited. I snuck outside and sat on the lawn and listened to there cute conversation. Maddox would ask Lydia to tell him what they were going to go do the next day. Lydia would tell him and then say goodnight again. This went on and on until Lydia fell asleep and Maddox came in because he didn't have anyone to talk to anymore. So Taylor ended up in the little two man tent with Lydia until they got to cold and came in at 5:00 AM. She was pretty proud that she stayed out for most of the night.

They spent two hours the other day filling water balloons and throwing them. Summer is upon us. Lydia started swim lessons this week and is loving it. By 7:30 the girls are both completely exhausted everyday from playing so hard and so am I.

The Unexpected

On Wednesday morning when Lydia woke up she complained that her surgery leg hurt. I looked at it everything looked normal and fine. I gave her some Motrin and we went to the library and lunch. Then she came home and took a nap. When she woke up from her nap she said she didn't feel good and she felt warm. I took her tempature and it was 101.4. I checked her leg and noticed a little redness on her ankle and some swelling. I called her surgeon and he said to meet him at the E.R in a hour and a half. Taylor was out of town so I took Penny to Grandma's house and headed to the E.R. When the Dr. came in the leg looked about twice as red and swollen as it had at 4:00pm. He told me she would need to have surgery that night and that we should expect to stay at the hospital over night. The tissue on the Neveus got too thin after it died which is why the infection was able to sneek in. She went into surgery at 10:00 pm and finished around midnight. Taylor got home about 1:00 am. He felt so bad he wasn't there to help and wait for her during her surgery. They had to take us in the ambulance to the other hospital she slept the whole way; she was exhausted. They took the expanders out of her leg and placed two drains in each side of the leg. They tested the samples from the surgery and she has staff infection. We ended up staying for 3 nights which felt forever. We just got home today and she is doing really well. They will keep her on an antibiotic and she will go back to see the doctor on Monday. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the calls and support, we feel so loved.

This is a picture of them flushing the leg. They would do this 2-3 times a day and it was the worst part for Lydia but she was so tough.

I did really well not having any melt downs until last night when she was so exhausted and upset. It is so hard as a parent to see your child hurt.

Yes, I am using her middle name. Lydia has decided to test the water recently and I am not sure where this has come from. Last week in Target I had to remove her from the store while she was kicking and screaming for misbehaving. She had to write an apology note to Target and deliver it to the customer service. ( I am kicking myself for not taking a picture of the note it was really cute.) But needless to say she has been much better since this little episode and I am hoping this is a good sign because I just don't know how to be mad at this little girl.

Up Where the Wind is Right

The girls bought kites with the money they got at the Easter Egg Hunt in our neighborhood and they had a ball flying them. Penny bought a mini kite. She is holding it in the picture, she was too busy running around with it to want to fly it. Of course Lydia had to show us all up with the one finger move.

Cotton Days

Taylor had to work all day Saturday but I braved it and took the girls to Cotton Days alone. It was awesome we have never been but we will go again next year for sure. Lydia ran around all day saying,"BEST DAY EVER!" Mel and family met up with us and Lydia and Jaida had a ball together. Taylor did make it home in time for the firework show that night. I love that we can watch it just outside our house.

Waiting for the fireworks in her Elmo jammies. Penny loved the fireworks. We let her stay up pretty late, two days later we are still paying for it.

Friday Nights

It used to be that I looked forward to Friday night sitting at home watching a movie curled up on the couch or going out to a favorite restaurant. Don't get me wrong these are welcomed Friday night too. But after having kids our Fridays have changed and I think for the better. Going out for yogurt and to the park was the icing on the week for me on Friday.

Plus, a plumber came with us and a troll like doll Lydia bought herself at the D.I. for 50 cents blowing out the window on the way home.

Lydia's Surgery #2

Lydia had her second surgery on Monday. She originally was only supposed to have two surgeries but her leg was not able to expand as well as they had hoped. This picture is the hairy nevus right before surgery there are two expander's in each side of the leg. We did eight expander appointments to get to this point. They removed as much of the hairy nevus as possible. She was a little sick for a few hours after surgery but has been awesome since. She up running around by Wednesday no problem. The picture below was yesterday after her Dr.'s appointment. The hairy nevus is dying that is why it is black this is something we hadn't expected. We will have to wait a month and let the skin die and heal before expanding the skin in order to remove the remaining portion with a 3rd and final surgery. It has been a bit more of a process then we had hoped but overall Lydia has done excellent. This looks way worse then it will when it is all healed up.

She has been so good though it all. She is a tough little cookie.

Just Missed the Blossoms

Childrens Museum (Day 3)

Day 2 (Knotts Berry Farm)

I didn't get any pictures of Penny on rides because she had a melt down on all the ones she went on. She was happy on the sidelines drinking soda and eatin cotton candy. Good thing she was FREE. But apparently from the pictures Lydia and I both had a great time. (Yes, that is the kiddie coaster and it was awesome). Lydia had to have the green monkey she spotted right when we got to the park. Even after all day it was the only souvenir she was interested in. Lydia still talks about riding the Ferry Go Round and the Roller Posters.

Day One In California (The Beach)

Monday morning we woke up and took a spontaneous trip to California. It was so nice. Thanks to Ryan and Julie for letting us stay. We had so much fun. The girls loved the beach and we ended up staying the whole day. Penny's diaper was completely full of sand and I had to beg Lydia to even look at me because she was so busy playing. We saw some whales and surfers when we were up on the Pier. It was a really great day.

Ruby's Dance Studio

Our bed is our private dance studio.

Almost everyday Lydia puts on this black leotard and begs me to pretend to be her dance teacher. It is pretty hysterical to think of me teaching dance ha ha. She also wants to wear her leotard to school and church. We will have to get her signed up for a dance class once her surgery is finished on her leg I am sure they can do a much better job then I can.

Lydia got these for herself today while shopping D.I. ($3.00) yup she got a smoking deal. She wore them all night even in the car on the way to Taylor's work. Then she had to take them for show and tell the next day too. I thought it was so cute. I told her I had a pair just like them when I was her age and she keep asking if they were mine. It was nice to be outside finally we all got sick last week so this was our first day up and running since.

Swinging is one of Lydia's favorite things to do. Poor Penny was to sick to come out with us maybe next time. Thank Grandma and Grandpa we will let it snow at your house anytime.

Happy Birthday to My Girls

Lydia turned four yesterday and Penny is one today.

We had a combined Birthday Party yesterday. It was planned for the park

but it rained all day so thank you Grandma Linda for letting us

use your house. The girls had a ball. I got a ton of pictures of Penny and not very many of

my little Lydia but I don't think she cared.

First Surgery

Lydia had her first surgery a week ago today. She is having her hairy nevus (AKA: in our home as hairy nemo) removed. She had the first surgery and everything went much better than I had hoped. She is such a tough girl and has had no problem bouncing right back. She had the expanders place during this surgery, they will use to stretch the skin. Then in 2 months she will have her second and final surgery. We decide to have her hairy nemo removed because as she gets older it would require more surgerys and these paticular moles can become cancer later in life.

I forgot what it was like to wake up in the morning and look out to find

that the snow had fallen while you were asleep. It reminded me of

snowy mornings in Beaver.

The girls got cold really fast but I think they had a good time.

Merry Christmas

This was our first year opening Christmas in on our own home, so when we were done we all went back to bed. I think that Santa did good this year the girls seem very pleased. We spent Christmas eve with Taylor's family at his Aunt Debbie's it was really fun.

Gingerbread house

Lydia, decorated her yearly gingerbread house last night. I think both girls ate way to much sugar, but isn't that the fun of it. It was fun to see Penny watching her sister so closely, next year she will be her little helper.

Lydia, was so excited to see Santa this year it was pretty cute.

Penny, was not as thrilled about the idea. It was polar express at the

library so they got to wear Christmas pajamas and act out the book.

Little Miss Mischievous

Penny has been a mischievous little one this week. She has had her first time trying to go up the stairs, get in the toilet, get in the garbage and anything else she isn't suppose to have. You are thinking she looks so innocent in these pictures, well think again she is a handful. And we love it!

Lydia, has been so good about helping out with chores around the house. She is acting so much older. She helped me with the laundry today the basket was a little to heavy so I had to help her some. But she did most of it all on her own.

It was her first time pulling herself up in her crib. I can't

believe that is the same baby in the picture hanging on the wall

she is growing up.

Milestone: Penny, got her first tooth this week and is crawling all over.

You will notice in thes pictures that her tongue is out in every one, she is really in to that these days. Lydia and Penny are enjoying each other more everyday, but Lydia is not sure about Penny crawling and taking her toys.

Early Easter and Sleeping Beauty

Lydia loves to dress up. She changed her outfit more than I can count today. This one was my favorite. She came down stairs and asked me if she could deliver candy to all of her neighbor friends and tell them happy Easter. I thought this would be a great way to get rid of some of her Halloween candy, so she went door to door handing out candy. Of course she ended up eat a bunch too.

Then later she went down stairs and was really quiet to I got worried and went down to see what she was up to. This is what I found. I think the time change caught up with her.

What do you do on a rainy day? We watch about 15 how to dance and gymnastics videos.

Lydia practiced all her best move. After all the videos and several costume changes

we were all ready for a long nap.

First time trying the splits. She was not so sure.

I guess I need to stop being so cheap and sign her up for lessons.

I never liked raisins growing up because my brother Jack told me that they were really rabbit poop. Shortly after I had Lydia I decided since they were a healthy snack I should give them another try. I actually really like them now and apparently so does Penny.
